Ans: In the citation of Smt. Mamta Jaiswal V. Rajesh Jaiswal on 24th March, 2000  , the wife was getting the maintenance of Rs 800 per month and her husband income was Rs 5852. The court also awarded alimony of Rs 800 per month as pendente lite alimony. The Qualification of wife was M.Sc, M.C., M.ed. 

The wife was also getting the salary of Rs 4000 . 

The High Court of Madhya pradesh ordered in favour of husband because the wife was well qualified and could maintain herself.  The maintenance of Rs 400 was given only to child.

Comment: Even if the wife was getting the salary of Rs 4000, she was well-qualified and could maintain herself.  The maintenance was given only to her child.

Ans: During a case of Supreme Court of Rohtash Singh Vs Smt. Ramendrei & Ors. on 02-03-2000, it was held that  Wife is not entitled to maintenance who deserted her husband.
